Ubuntu “Bionic Beaver” - Version 18.04 LTS Beta 1 Released For Opt-In Flavors

Is it just me or did anyone else has been feeling like there haven't been many activities in the Linux / Ubuntu front lately?  Then it's a good thing that silence has broke, as Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver which is due for an official release next month is still on schedule.

Canonical promises that Ubuntu 18.04 aka Bionic Beaver will bring some improvements and of course several bug fixes. Some the confirmed goodies which will be seen in the coming update includes:

Linux Kernel 4.15

Xorg as the default display server

Faster boot time

Minimal installation

Keyboard shortcuts

Color emojis, better font support for Chinese and Korean users, MP3 playback out-of-the-box, new applets, etc.

The first Beta Version of Bionic Beaver was announced by Canonical over the weekend, and it comes with some Linux flavors including Kubuntu, Ubuntu Budgie, Ubuntu Kylin, Xubuntu, and Ubuntu MATE. As it’s always the case, Ubuntu’s primary GNOME flavor isn’t a part of the first beta release.

You already know that Ubuntu 18.04 is KDE-based, and it'll also interest you to know that it will also have Plasma 5.12 desktop, along with other handy KDE Applications 17.12.2 such as VLC, Cantata, Muon package manager (as the new default applications) for video, audio playback, and installing packages on the operating system.

How to Download Ubuntu Version 18.04 LTS Beta 1 a.k.a Bionic Beaver

Before you go ahead to download, it is worth reminding you that this is an early build with several features still under development, so it is safe to keep in mind that your system might be unstable and run into errors more often.

The download links of the pre-release builds for Kubuntu, Ubuntu Bidgie, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu MATE, and Xubuntu can be found in the announcement post that was released by Canonical over the weekend.
