How To Fix Missing Adsense.txt File Notification For Blogger/Blogspot Blogs

Before I went to bed yesterday I got a notification from Google Adsense which read Earnings at risk - One or more of your ads.txt files doesn't contain your AdSense publisher ID. Fix this now to avoid severe impact to your revenue. I made several searches even on Google Products forum to find a solution to the problem, but to my greatest surprise, a solution to the problem wasn't found on Google products forums which are supposed to be the number solution center for all Google problems.

However, I didn't relent in finding the solution to the problem, after hours of making searches on Google,I finally found a solution, and I am going to show you how to fix the notification or warning message on your Adsense account which reads Earnings at risk - One or more of your ads.txt files doesn't contain your AdSense publisher ID. Fix this now to avoid severe impact on your revenue. But before we I do that, let me tell you what is the Ads.txt and why your Adsense got that notification.

What is Ads.txt

The "ADS.TXT" (Authorized Digital Seller) is a list made by a website owner that contains publisher accounts and the names of ads networks that the publisher authorized to be showing of ads on his/her website. 

Why Ads.txt

The primary aim of implementing ads.txt is to avoid false ad placements from unknown accounts and to help publishers and ads network improve their security in monetizing your content. It’s a simple idea for the ad publishers to specifically show the buyers who are authorized to sell their ads on the website by using Ads (Authorized Digital Sellers) txt file.

Further Explanation on Ads.txt

It is a new innovation which aims to overcome the action of bad players who work to get profit from arbitrage (profitable ad slots) ad inventory in the digital market world. This Ads.txt tool that can improve advertising system with the genuine ads buyers to root out frauds & to overcome illegitimate sellers who counterfeit ad inventory & spoof domains on programmatic ad exchanges platforms. For example, anybody can fraudulently buy a low-value ad slot on a low-quality content website like xyz.com from the programmatic ad exchange, and then places it on a premium website, like bbc.com. So practically that's cheating.

So with the ads.txt feature, this kind of advertisements will not be displayed on unauthorized site. Now. Let's check out how you implement Ads.tx on your blogger/Blogspot blog.

This article is emphasized on Google Adsense as the means of monetization for your Blogger/Blogspot, but if you are using another ads network besides Adsense, don't worry, the methods are very much the same, you just have to make a few changes and you're good to go. To implement ads.txt your blogger blog, follow these following steps

1.   Open your Blogger Dashboard

2.   If you have multiple blogs on the same blogger account, select which of the blogs you'd like to work on. And if you have just one blog on the account, move to step 3 below.

3.   Click on Settings

4.   Click on Search Preferences

5.   You will see a new option called Monetization which was recently added by Google, and by default, it will be disabled.

6.   Click on it to enable it and then move to next step which is opening your Adsense account.

7.   Open your Adsense Account, you will see a red notification at the top of your dashboard telling you that Earnings at risk - One or more of your ads.txt files doesn't contain your AdSense publisher ID. Fix this now to avoid severe impact on your revenue.

8.   Click on the action button and you'll be taken to your Adsense sites management page.

9.   Google will automatically generate an Adt.txt file for you, now copy the code which will look similar to this google.com, pub-XXXXXXXXXX, DIRECT, XXXXXXX (please note that every Adsense account has their own unique code)

10.   Then paste the code you copied from your Adsense dashboard into the Monetization space in step 5 above, and then you will have something like this.

11.   Now save your changes and wait for at least 12 to 24hours  or 48hours in some cases before Google to pick up your changes and your authorizations.

Google may stop ads serving on your blog(s) until you complete this ad serving authorization on your blogger blog. So do not panic if you notice that ads aren't appearing on your blog anymore.

Ads serving will automatically resume once Google has processed your changes, but until then, focus on other aspects of your blog and keep your readers engaged.
