Enable Hardware Acceleration In VLC Media Player And Save Battery.


VLC media player (commonly known as VLC) is one of the most commonly used media player both in Windows, Mac, Linux or any any other platform. Its is a portable, free and open-source, cross-platform media player and streaming media server which was made available by VideoLAN. and has been in use since 2001. VLC is available for desktop operating systems and mobile platforms, such as Windows 10 Mobile, Windows Phone, Android, iPad, iPhone, etc. VLC is also available on App stores such as Apple's App Store and Microsoft Windows Windows Store.


I am sure that most of us uses this software to watch or stream most of our favourite movies, both through our storage drives, of via the internet. Today, you're going to learn how you can use VLC in your and still save a few battery juice. Just follow these steps below....

 How To Enable Hardware Acceleration In VLC Media Player.

1.    I will assume you have already installed VLC media player in your pc, but if you have not done so, just download it from their official website whether its 32bit or 64bit.

2.    Now open the software (VLC media player), locate Preferences option in Tools.

3.    Once the Preferences menu opens, locate Input/Codecs tab

4.    Here, you will have to locate options Hardware-accelerated/decoding or GPU accelerated decoding. It might differ depending on the version of your VLC . But it'll definitely be either 

5.    Finally, choose The Automatic option, or tick the GPU accelerated decoding box. 
Supported video codecs in Windows are MPEG-1, MPEG-2, WMV3, VC-1 and H.264 MPEG-4 AVC.
